What is Gimkit?
Gimkit is a free online educational platform that transforms traditional classroom quizzes into engaging, live learning games. It seamlessly combines knowledge, strategy, collaboration, and competition, making review sessions feel like an exciting game show. Teachers and students alike appreciate its high engagement levels, often leading students to enthusiastically request more game time!
Founded in 2017 by high school student Josh Feinsilber as a project, Gimkit is now developed by Team Gimkit and widely adopted in schools for various subjects.
How It Works
Create a Kit
- Teachers or students can create or import a set of questions (multiple-choice or open-ended) on any topic.
- For quick setup, community-shared Kits are available.
Launch a Game
- Choose a game mode and share a join code or link.
- Students can join from any device—no account needed!
Play
- Students answer questions at their own pace and earn virtual cash for correct answers.
- This cash can be spent on power-ups, upgrades, or items that either boost their performance or create fun challenges for others.

Gimkit features a variety of game modes, which can be categorized as follows:
